If you’re a UK blog who relentlessly reminded people vote in the US election last year, then i really hope that you’re doing the same thing for our general election on the 8th June, and are registered to vote. Because otherwise, shut up, go online, register to fucking vote and do your civic duty on the 8th.
More you might like
Honestly, the same needs to go for US followers.
For the love of Christ, please reblog any post you see reminding UK voters to register and then to vote.
Please.
Deadline to registering to vote in the UK is May 22nd
The general election is June 8th
The link to register to vote is: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
And remember you can remove yourself from the open register, or change your status on the open register.
Let’s get the Tories (and UKIP) the fuck out of the Commons and local politics.
I know I’ve got some international friends! GO UNFUCK SHIT.
In the 2014 additions to the UK Potter books, Rowling says part of the process to become an Animagus is to hold the leaf of a Mandrake in your mouth for a whole month.
Can you imagine. These boys in Minerva McGonagall’s classes for that month, hoping she doesn’t notice.
now that you pointed that out i’m 100% sure minerva knew about that
ok imagine all the marauders pretending to take a vow of silence for a month to keep that up.
Like wearing chalkboards around their necks and writing out anything they have to say around teachers and coming up with another ridiculous reason every time someone asks why they’re taking a vow of silence like. We’re protesting the traditional student/teacher constructs and the unreasonable verbal requirements of school. We’re raising awareness of how funny we are and how much your lives are worse without our beautiful voices telling jokes. We’re in a very intense round of the Silent Game and we’re all here to WIN.
“So Remus, why aren’t you doing it?”
(gives very fond look to the boys) “I’m not a moron.”
“(deathglares)”
Okay but
What about when McGonagall did it.
YES CAN WE ALSO TALK ABOUT THAT
Other student: Minnie, why aren’t you talking?
McGonagall: *scribbles on a piece of parchment* “someone bet me I couldn’t and mama ain’t raise no bitch”

To me this is super encouraging, because it means more people are a) aware of the options, b) understanding themselves, and c) feeling safe/comfortable expressing their identity. <3
All true.
Though…i would remind everyone that we lost a LOT of us in the 70s-80s-90s. To things like AIDs. So at least part of the difference in numbers is that the older members of our community didn’t all survive.
Great points, we should remember the huge numbers we lost to AIDS. My point was less a competition between generations and more about the absolute numbers of the millennial generation being so high.
but guys, you realize Morgan Freeman had to read those lines
…without laughing.
LOOK AT THE GUY HOLDING THE MICROPHONE
Meet 63-year-old Lyn Slater, who has, until recently, been an ordinary professor at Fordham University. One day she went to meet a friend for lunch outside the Lincoln Center during New York Fashion Week. Foreign journalists suddenly surrounded her, mistaking her for a fashion icon and attracting spectatorsIt was a defining moment that turned Lyn into an ‘Accidental Icon’. Her blog of the same name, inspired by the experience, soon began making international waves. She is now a public voice against ageism in the fashion industry and the world.
“Fashion and my style help me struggle against that invisibility that comes with age.“
She was once asked about the old notion of ‘dressing for one’s age,’ and her response was clear:
“We use language to control people’s behavior. This phrase is a way of putting older women in their place. I’m certain that if you feel comfortable in your own clothes, it’s completely irrelevant how old you are.”
We have a fairly new employee at work (she’s been with us about 5 weeks). She is a tiny baby at only 18 but she reminds me so much of myself particularly at that age
My other coworker (who I’m pretty close to) and I were joking while we were closing and in that joking it came up that she and I are both bi. And new girl is standing nearby and upon hearing this her face just LIGHTS UP and she says “I think I’m bi too! But I have a boyfriend so my friends say I can’t really be.”
So we ended up having a really nice discussion with her about it as we went about closing the store, assuring her whoever she’s dating does not define her sexuality. She seemed to be really reassured by what we said to her and I felt so good about getting to talk to a young person about bisexuality and maybe helping her get past some of the thoughts and notions about bi people that kept me in the closet (to the world and to myself) for so long
Plus at the end of the conversation she ran over to me and held up her hand and yelled “BI FIVE?!” And then we laughed so hard we almost peed.
Honestly? Shoutout to those of you who are completely fucking lost in life. Those who don’t know what they want to do with life. Those who are stuck in a certain part of life and can’t get out. Those who are reaching for dreams they feel are impossible to reach. Those who feel like they’re accomplishments are being overlooked. Those who feel like their enough just isn’t enough. It is. You can make it. You will make it. There is an opening at the end of the tunnel.
